Department of Agriculture Cautions against Illegal Movement of Livestock amid Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Outbreak

The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development has warned against the illegal movement of livestock as it tries to prevent an outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD). There are currently 56 reported cases in communal farms in KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State, the North West, Limpopo and Gauteng.

 

These recent outbreaks of FMD will have major economic impact as it spreads to more than one province and stakeholders need to follow protocols if the spread is to be contained.
